Learn More About This Coffee

The Agaro region is one of the earliest coffee growing seasons and earliest coffee harvest in Ethiopia. Coffees from the Agaro region can actually “bloom” and continue to develop their flavor complexity for up to half a year after arrival (although in our experience it doesn't tend to last that long as we simply can't stop drinking it..). Within Oromia Region in Western Ethiopia, Qadamessa community’s producers bring their coffees to the Duromina washing station in Agaro (located in Gomma District). At Duromina, after mechanical pulping of the cherry, the coffee is fermented in tanks overnight, then the coffee is put on raised beds and dried while being turned frequently over the next week. The higher elevation of Gomma district (which Qadamessa is located in) has typically more precipitation as well as a sandy loamy soil that retains more of the rainfall helping to enliven fertile growth for the coffee trees in the area.
